New rules for women's lacrosse
The votes have been counted and the results are in.
At the General Assembly of FIL, held in Manchester alongside the men's World Championships in July 2010, a number of rule changes were approved for the women's game. Many, but not all of these new rules were trialled in England last season. A summary of all the approved rule changes can be found here. The full text of the amendments can be found here .
Information needed The Rules and Umpiring Committee is in the process of setting dates for umpiring courses and testing opportunities in the 2010-2011 season. A number of dates can be found already on the Calendar page, but we would like to hear from you about any playdays or tournaments in your area which might be useful for training and testing umpires. Please send any info to administrator@laxumps.co.uk and keep checking back with this site for updates about umpiring opportunities around the country and beyond.
ONLINE RULES TEST DEADLINE HAS PASSED If you failed to take and pass the online rules test by 31 January 2010 any rating you held at that date has lapsed, and you are no longer a qualified umpire. If you wish to renew your qualification, see the Basic Umpiring Requirements page for details of what is needed to obtain and retain a rating, and contact us on adminstrator@laxumps.co.uk with any questions or to request course details, a rating opportunity or late access to the test.
The new online test which all umpires will need to take and pass for next season will be available in September 2010. It must be passed by 31 December 2010 in order to retain your current rating.
The only people who are currently qualified to umpire are those shown on this website on the current umpires list.

New Rules trialled in UK At meetings during last year's World Cup in Prague, FIL identified a number of potential changes to the rules which it wished to have trialled by its member nations during the 2009-10 season in preparation for the new rule book due to be published in 2010. The proposed changes have (mostly) been trialled here and a report on their pros and cons has been submitted to FIL's Rules Committee. Those of the trial rules which are to be adopted in the new rule book will be posted here as soon as we receive an announcement from FIL. The members of FIL will be voting on the proposed changes at the General Assembly due to take place alongside the Men's World Championships in Manchester in July.
